AMD Ryzen 7 5700u Processor Laptops : The Perfect Balance of Power and Efficiency

AMD Ryzen 7 5700u Processor Laptops : The Perfect Balance of Power and Efficiency

Laptops are the perfect option if you need something to use while on the go. Whether you’re running around doing errands or traveling from place to place, you can always pack your laptop in your bag and get work done, or just relax and play some games on it in your hotel room. As convenient as laptops are, however, choosing one can be pretty difficult!

Intel vs. AMD (processors)

AMD came back into the scene in 2017 after a 10-year hiatus with their new line of processors, boasting higher performance than Intel's offerings. For example, AMD's Ryzen 5 2500U processor uses 15W less power than its Intel counterpart while offering better performance—that means laptops using AMD chips should be able to last longer between charges. But how much better is AMD's performance? We ran benchmarks on six AMD-powered laptops (and five Intel-powered laptops) for our 2018 buying guide to find out if it was worth making an upgrade.

AMD's processors have a serious advantage when it comes to power consumption. With lower levels of power consumption, you can expect your AMD-powered laptop to offer longer battery life in between charges. For example, all three MacBooks we tested had Intel i5 processors but varied from seven hours up to a whopping 15 hours and 27 minutes on a single charge—that’s a pretty big difference! Of course, there are other factors that affect how long your laptop lasts on battery, like display size and resolution (see below for more details), but generally speaking if you're looking for longer battery life, AMD is your best bet.

What to look for in a new laptop

There are many different processors on today’s market, but AMD’s latest release promises to be a game-changer. How does it stack up against its competitors? Is it worth spending more for? To find out, let’s take a look at what makes each type of processor so unique. For example, if you want the best performance in your laptop with little regard for battery life or heat emissions then you might choose an Intel Core i7 or Core i9 model (such as the Intel Core i9-8950HK). However, if power efficiency is important to you then an AMD processor like the Ryzen 7 5700U might be just right.

What does an i7 even mean?

Intel has been at the forefront of processor manufacturing for decades, but AMD is changing things up with its latest series. On paper, at least, AMD’s processors look like a solid alternative to Intel’s offerings. So what does an i7 even mean? And are you better off buying an i5 or i7? Read on to find out! Intel dominates the market because it generally makes more powerful processors than AMD.

But while Intel’s newest CPUs pack in more cores and offer much higher performance, they also draw a lot more power—which can be problematic when it comes to laptops.

What about Macbook Pros?

Macbook Pros are solid computers, but they don’t quite hold up to their Windows-based competitors. If you’re deciding between a Macbook Pro or a Dell XPS 13, for example, keep in mind that Macs are overpriced compared to what you get from their PC counterparts. You can get similar performance—or better—for much less on a Windows machine.

Also, Windows-based computers have a larger software library than Macs. While many of your favorite apps will be available for both operating systems, more obscure or less popular programs might only be available on Windows machines. This makes a difference when you’re shopping for PCs. For example, while Macs come with some video editing software built in, it’s not enough to replace industry-standard tools like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.

Where to buy your new laptop from

If you’re looking for a new laptop, where should you buy it from? The simple answer is that it depends. If you are going to use your laptop primarily for gaming or video editing, then chances are you will want to go with a more powerful processor. However, if you will be using your laptop primarily for work purposes such as word processing or spreadsheets, then there are more cost-effective options available.

Just make sure you know what your needs are, or else you could end up paying for features that you don’t need. You can save money on your laptop by shopping online, but if an in-store experience is more comfortable for you, then shop at a local retailer instead. Whichever route you choose, it’s always a good idea to do your research ahead of time.

What do you think of the recent MacBook Pro updates?

Apple has recently announced that it is updating its Macbook Pro line with new models for late 2016. While some were disappointed by Apple’s lack of laptop updates in September 2015, these 2017 models do look quite promising. Early reviews have praised their performance as well as their graphics abilities and battery life. But one thing stands out above all else, as PC users will be able to run multiple programs at once without struggling or slowing down. Is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U a good processor?

That depends on what you are looking for. If you are in the market for the best graphics card possible, then the AMD R7 chip may not be the best option for you. However, if you are looking for something less powerful but also more efficient than Intel processors, then this could be a great choice!

Is there any reason to wait before buying this new release?

If you’re looking for a powerful processor with great multi-core performance, AMD’s new release might be right up your alley. With 8 cores running at 3.5GHz—and all that processing power squeezed into a 1cm chip—you won’t have to wait long for it to do its job, no matter what kind of professional workload you’re running. What more could you ask for?

amd ryzen 7 5700u which brand laptop is best ?

In 2017 AMD has introduced its latest chip, called Ryzen 7 1700. It is based on AMD Zen microarchitecture and is built using 14 nm FinFET technology. It features 8 cores, 16 threads, is clocked at 3.0 GHz (base) and can reach up to 3.7 GHz in single-core optimized workloads. With a TDP of 45W, it is more power efficient than any other processor from the company’s recent lineup. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X for example has 95W TDP and will be only slightly faster in multi-threaded applications that are capable of utilizing all the cores (mostly video editing software). Therefore it may be worth investing into a laptop with a powerful quad-core processor such as Intel Core i5 instead.

Is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U a good processor?

Which is better - an i5 or a 7700HQ? I play some video games, but not too much. I don't like to be so bogged down by waiting for my laptop to catch up with me. It's annoying when you're in-game, watching a movie on Hulu, making a PowerPoint presentation (that no one will care about), browsing Facebook in another tab, etc.

You'll have a hard time keeping track of what's going on because your computer slows down every time it tries to do something else. You'll have this problem less if you get a CPU with higher clock speeds, and Ryzen does just that.

Acer, Lenovo, HP and Dell laptops come preinstalled with either AMD FX-9830P Quad-Core A12 Processor or Intel Core i5-8250U Quad-Core U6 processor which one is best ?

HP is installed with Intel Core i5-8300H and Acer has AMD Ryzen 5 2500U Quad-Core Processor, both processors cost around $300 so choose whichever you prefer.

Dell comes preinstalled with Intel Core i3-8130U Dual-Core U4 processor and Lenovo comes installed with AMD Dual-Core E2 9600 APU Black Edition R3 Caspian RYZEN Mobile Processor which one would be the cheapest?

Acer has AMD Ryzen 5 2500U Quad-Core Processor, HP has Intel Core i5-8300H. Dell i3-8130U processor costs $183.99 while Lenovo AMD Dual-Core E2 9600 APU Black Edition R3 Caspian RYZEN Mobile Processor costs $197. 90.

If gaming performance is crucial then Lenovo should be your choice but in most cases the difference between gaming performance won't be noticeable.

All laptops have a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Acer has a screen size of 15.6 inches, HP has a screen size of 14 inches, Dell has a screen size of 14 inches and Lenovo comes with a 15.6 inch display.

Both Acer, HP, Dell and Lenovo have AMD Radeon R5 Graphics with 2GB of RAM. But you can also choose between Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated graphics or AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 discrete graphics.

It’s got an all-black plastic build. There’s some flex due to the plastic but build quality feels better than the cheaper Acer's  Nitro 5 I recently tested.    We are looking at under 4.8lb or 2.2kg for the laptop alone, then right on 6lb or about 2.7kg total with the 135watt power brick and cables included. The size is decent for a 15-inch gaming laptop , not super thin or anything, but not huge and still portable. This smaller footprint allows for 6mm thin screen bezels on the sides.
